Introductions
Kristin Diana, Amber Astbury and Stacy Lau were both introduced as new members of Rotaract
Victor was visiting
Meeting begins at 12:15
Membership/Polo Shirts, T-shirts, Promotional Materials
There will be a $10 fee to continue to be a member and the deadline will be September
A two page contract will have to be filled out
Motion: All are in favor of filling out the contract for membership: APPROVED
Hogans, Rob (from campus hoodies) for possible polo shirts with embroidery
M & M designs for some promotional material for about $250 but have not responded
Anna says we can look a Silver Stitch for some possible promotional materials
Motion: All in favor of spending $500 on promotional materials: APPROVED
Anna will get a quote for embroidered polo’s
T-shirts will not be embroidered
Fundraising Ideas
Kathy: One big event will be held in March; I was thinking of doing a Tuscan night and would like to have it at one of the halls like Caboto
Anna: We can try St. Clair Center
Kathy: Fogular would be about $1000, we were thinking of doing it like a battle of the brains like Rotary takes on Rotaract
Alex: we would find an organization in Windsor which we could use to support
Cynthia: we want a cause by January so members need to help bring together some ideas, one that fundraises for an international cause and one that fundraises for a local cause
Kathy: It would be a dinner followed by a brain buster
Anna: Do we want to help out with the Children’s Village in the first week of September? They will need volunteers and could do a Rotaract booth.
Cynthia: It would be nice to do something with Iona College or the soup kitchen just volunteering for the community
Anna: We can even have movie nights for our group were we bring friends
Cynthia: We were thinking of doing an Art Auction where we have people pay at the door. Where students would be volunteering their art for the auction
Alex: We made a deal with Shinerama to partner with them to put us on their shirt, in the lance and our logo on their website for $300. We should throw in about $3 each for the T-shirts as a donation. And they will be having a BBQ where we can help out
Anna: Maybe we can have a Point Pelee day for the members
Cynthia: Contact information will be sent via facebook inbox to all members
Club Days/ Club Summit
Club Days day is TBA and the club summit is Sept 30, 2009 and all executive must attend the club summit
Leadership Development
We will be having guest speakers and conferences
Monday there is a Toast Masters conference in Rm. 207 in Odette 4:30 – 5:30, Alex, Cynthia, Kathy, Shammy are planning on attending it FREE
TLC will be in February
Updates
Jennifer Jones sent a card and $50 donation for Polio
August 22 there is a pasta dinner for Shinarama if anyone is interested
Cynthia: Is missing 3 meetings grounds for dismissal from the club?
Motion: I’d like to make a motion for members failing to show up to meeting/events to fulfill their duties 3 times in a row will be asked to leave the club. The club reserves the right to remove the incumbent: APPROVED
