Meeting Begins at 1:08pm
• Our new member Monica was introduced to Rotaract
• Thank you cards were given to Erin to give to the people who bottled the wine
• Money was given to the photographer Jack
• Photos from the Art Auction were put on a CD and will be put up on the website
• Group photo was put on an issue of The Lance
• If you would like a pamphlet from the Art Auction, please contact Alex
Pros and Cons of Art Auction
• $850 was raised. Approximately $700 will be donated
• Fee from the pop was all made back
• Money for the cups, plates, and food came out of the ticket sales
• Rick Caron heard good comments about the event
• Event was filled nicely, had a couple platters of food leftover
• Some buyers still need to pay for artwork which will get taken care of
• Pieces will be given back to the artists and they can decide to still sell it or not
• Possibility of selling leftover artwork via Facebook or at the Battle of the Brains event
Improvements for Art Auction
• More time for hanging up artwork
• Table to sit at instead having to stand around all the time
• Put auction sheets on a table with the picture of the artwork
• Choose an art gallery that is already clean
• Make contract with art gallery owners
• More tickets were printed than needed
• Impressed with set up, posters, ticket sales.
• Post-event promotion with lance or something that includes group photo and/or photograph with cheque
• Get a copy of the post-event write up that Ashley’s friend did.
Other Organizations’ Events
• Rotaract was invited to SIFE demo camp
• Demo camp – people from different businesses come up with business ideas and a large group of approx 70 people do the funding for local businesses
• Dec 23rd : something for the Olympics, free hat and gloves(?)
• Essex District High School – Cultural Diversity Night
• Enjoy multicultural food, entertainment, etc.
• Thursday Dec 10th from 4-7pm. Located in the cafeteria.
Volunteer at Food Bank?
• Downtown mission only allows 4-5 people in the kitchen and 2-3 people serving food
• IONA College: can volunteer at food bank or bring in canned food
• Current standing: undecided
Battle of the Brains
• Friday, March 26, 2010
• Place Concord has the best price so far
• Kristin will look into the Caboto Club
• Bradley will look into Fogolar Furlan
• Ashley will look into the Croatian Centre
• Plan to have 200-250 people attend the event
• Charity still needs to be picked
• Walk-ins will be sitting together.
• Tickets need to be low enough to attract students and still make a profit
• Overall winner is a team not individual person
• Trivia game will have different category questions similar to Jeopardy.
• Electronic devices are prohibited
• Powerpoint slideshow with questions only
• Example: 8 questions per round, 8 rounds
• Possibly use questions from the game Trivial Pursuit
• Include a speed round
• Possibly include Pictionary as an ice breaker or something.
• Rotaract members’ duty: collect answer sheets and keep an eye out for cheaters
• Have a different MC for each round to familiarize people with the Rotaract members
Pinning Ceremony
• Tentatively January 8th at 6pm
• Ambassador Auditorium needs to be booked
• Business casual dress wear
• Food that will be brought:

• No food allergies have been reported
There will not be a meeting before the Pinning Ceremony
